Campaign:
DESIGNATE / EMPLOYEE CAMPAIGN / FUN / AWARDS
“DESIGNATE PUTNAM”… If you are one of the nearly 8,000
Putnam county residents working outside of Putnam County, you can
designate your workplace campaign pledge back home. By choosing to
designate Putnam County, you are helping those who are in need right
here in your community.
HOW DO I DESIGNATE?
Simply write in “Putnam County” on your pledge card. You will be
notified when we receive word of your designation. Thank you.
Putnam County volunteers are working together to raise funds for a
wide range of programs and services that serve our own friends and
neighbors. This is our 28th year in partnering with local agencies
and contributors.
The most important part of the United Way campaign is the workplace
campaign.
Companies and organizations of any size can participate. By staying
involved in this community building system, local companies and
organizations are promoting employee morale and teamwork and good
community relations…"Neighbor Helping Neighbor".
Fundraising through Employee Campaigns . . .

What is the Employee Campaign Method?
The employee campaign is an approach to raising money for the United
Way that is exponentially beneficial to reaching our goal. Through
an organized meeting within a company, where employees are notified
in advance of this company-sponsored event, individuals will hear
the United Way story, watch a campaign film, and be asked to
contribute. Pledge cards are distributed then returned to the
campaign coordinator or ECM (Employee Campaign Manager) and a
Employee Campaign Summary Report is
completed. One copy is sent to the United Way and one copy is given
to the payroll department. It’s that simple!
Fun Company Campaigns
Increase giving by making your campaign both fun and educational
with Special Events! Here are several ideas…
Duct Tape for United Way: Choose one person (preferably
someone well known such as a CEO or Supervisor) to be duct taped.
The employees pay for 2-3 feet of Duct Tape for $X amount. The
person being duct taped stands against a wall on a stool. The people
who purchase the tape apply it to the person and the wall. When the
person is secured to the wall remove the stool!
United Way Pie Throw: Pick your favorite Pie in the face
guy/girl. People pay per pie for a chance to hit their favorite
supervisor in the mug or teams nominate one pie thrower to raise
votes (cash) to win the title of ”Pie Thrower”.
Lunch and Dunk: Rent a dunk tank for employees to take turns
dunking their favorite good sport. Include a lunch with food prizes
for those who hit their mark.

Team Putting Challenge: Form teams of golfer to putt on an
indoor putting green. The teams assist their blindfolded golfer to
putt for the lowest score. No physical contact, only verbal
instructions.
Baby Picture Contest: Pin up pictures on a bulletin board of
baby pictures of different employees. See how many people can name
that baby and their age in the picture!
Olympics: Don’t use the traditional Olympic Games. Brainstorm
new ideas – roll the egg (not hard-boiled) across a finish line with
your chin, but don’t break it! Walk a circle track with a full glass
of water using one hand…spilling as little as possible. Have a
hula-hoop contest. Use your imagination!
Silent Auction: Instead of traditional items, use theme
baskets such as sports related themes, entertainment, fishing,
cooking, etc. Then bidding is done on the entire basket.
Tricycle Races: Set up a course in your parking lot. Remember
the trike you use may never be the same since it was intended for
those weighing probably no more than 50lbs!
These are just a few of many examples of special events that can
be used for fundraising or a kickoff event for your United Way
Campaign! Don’t hesitate to contact the United Way staff to provide
help with your event. Try to include United Way or Agency facts to
help people keep in mind the reason behind all the fun!
